We Started as a Farmers' Group and Never Stopped Being One

Sirtanio joins two Javanese words — Sir, to love, and Tanio, an invitation to farm. The name has been in use since 1997, when we were still a farmers' group called Mendo Sampurno in Singojuruh, Banyuwangi. The legal form has changed since; what has not is that the rice still comes from farmers we know by name.

From 1997 to PT, Five Steps

  1. 1997

    The Mendo Sampurno Farmers' Group

    A group of farmers in Singojuruh began farming organically together.

  2. 2006

    An Organic Farming Training Centre

    What they practised, they began teaching to other farmers — P4S.

  3. 2012

    A Registered Business

    The rice started selling under its own name.

  4. 2015

    Became a CV

    Distribution widened beyond Banyuwangi.

  5. 2017

    Became PT Sirtanio Organik Indonesia

    The form the company holds today.

Farmers Are Not Our Suppliers

We are not a trading house that buys paddy from middlemen and prints a label on it. The rice is grown by 205 partner farmers across 13 districts of Banyuwangi, on 176 hectares, without chemical pesticides — then milled and packed at our own facility in Dusun Rumping, Desa Kemiri, Singojuruh. One chain from seed to pack, and at every link we can point to the person responsible.

Since 2006 we have also run an organic farming training centre, because creating more organic farmers makes more sense than competing over the ones who exist.

Distribution is not a single channel: traditional markets, modern retail, direct sales, and our own official marketplace stores.

Our first export shipment left for Italy in 2019, through PT KKI / Javara. Sirtanio has also been a Bank Indonesia partner enterprise since 2014.
