Five Varieties of Organic Rice, All From One Growing Region

Every variety is grown by our 205 partner farmers in Banyuwangi, East Java, without chemical pesticides, then milled and vacuum-packed at our own facility in Singojuruh. All five carry the retail brand Beras Organik Seblang Banyuwangi and are certified to SNI Organic.

Beras Merah OrganikRed Rice

Seventy percent of everything we grow. From Desa Segobang — sego is rice, abang is red; the village is named after this crop — and the variety our retail volume is built on.

Beras Hitam Melik OrganikMelik Black Rice

Named after Dusun Melik in Desa Parijatah, where it has been grown for generations. It needs 160 days in the field — roughly half again a common paddy cycle — which is why it is four percent of our harvest and not more.

The Name Itself Is an Invitation

Sirtanio joins two Javanese words: Sir, to love, and Tanio, an invitation to farm. Together the name is an invitation to love farming — which is what we have done since 1997, when Sirtanio was still a farmers' group called Mendo Sampurno.

Schooling Farmers, Healing the World.
